open vented mains pressure hot water cylinder / combination tank

the principal of thermal store revives the traditional indirect hot water cylinder. the primary heating coil is connected directly to the mains and the secondary stored water is used to heat the mains cold water travelling through the coil.

this is known as a direct system i.e. one coil. an indirect thermal store would have two coils.
